The online platform for V-Ray users to submit, vote, and collaborate on creative suggestions.
Hi dear devs, it has been decades since we have been using IFL to import image sequences, or uncompressed huge avi files into 3ds Max and use as textures. Things have been changed so much in the last few decades. H.264 has been 22 years old, H.265 is 12 years old. ProRes is 18 years old. But 3ds Max didn't implement any of these formats. Lots of us lost faith in Autodesk. It has always been developers like you who keep innovating and changing the landscape of 3d DCC. So I am begging you, would you please support video formats in VRayBitmap in the future? (I only use VRay for 3ds Max and Vantage, but I think other software users will find it useful as well.)
So far, Unreal and Blender can already natively support video as texture. Cinema 4D can do it with some limitations. This will greatly increase creativity and efficiency for 3ds Max users and Vantage users.
I understand that video formats, encoding compression methods evolve much faster than images. It won't be realistic to expect you to support all the possible codecs, but if you can just support a few basic ones with the most common parameters, such as H.265, ProRes with alpha, we can simply align with your codec requirements.
Sincerely hope you can consider this. Thank you a million times.
