The online platform for V-Ray users to submit, vote, and collaborate on creative suggestions.
Hi everyone. We made this idea to collect more opinions on a topic that is discussed right now in the forum.
We would like to know whether you would use a simulation representing a specific lens. If yes, what kind of lenses would you like to have? Maybe different categories?
Where would you like to have the controls for this feature?
How do you see these presets to be combined with other settings?
What do you currently miss from our Bokeh effects?
You can add examples, images, or even links to videos here.
Feel free to vote and to share your opinion.
+1 This would be super cool to have.
Specific characteristics for different lenses would be the goal here, so hopefully a ton of different options. I guess this should be combined with an option for what sort of sensor the lens is simulated to be captured on. A flare coating option would be very, very welcome - especially if this could be output as a separate render pass (VRayFlare?). One of the reasons why it would be cool to have this in 3D as opposed to in post production, is that a lens will often catch a light source that is outside the visible field of view - both for glare and flare effects.
My guess would be to place it as a tab inside the VRayCam unless there's a good reason not to have it there.
+1 Specially the LensSim in Blender is very very good. Octane is also currently implementing a very similar lens simulator, so it would be amazing to have it in Vray. A VrayLensCam node, split from the regular VrayCam would be the best way to go imo

Best place would be a dedicated camera node.
